Adidas creates sneaker inspired by Kanye’s Yeezy Foam Runner slipper

Like it or not, the resounding success of Yeezy’s Foam Runner clogs proves that foam shoes are here to stay – and soon the brand could introduce more athletic versions. Images disclosed by the Instagram account @sneakerjamz_new teases a never-before-seen foam sneaker from Adidas, leading fans to speculate the shoe is Kanye’s next big hit.

Retaining the frame and perforations of the Foam Runner, the slip-on sneaker is constructed entirely from a single piece of lightweight white foam. Only an all-black rubber outsole – a feature never seen before on a Yeezy Foam model – has been added to the shoe, suggesting more performance capabilities. Still, without laces, the shoes look better as slippers than anything that goes fast.

Unknown foam – Like most Yeezy Leaks, anyone can guess what this model is for, or if it will even come out. The brand has a habit of constantly updating their silhouettes – their 350 V1 and V2 sneakers are only a year apart – which means this foam sneaker could be an upgrade to the Foam Runner. , first released in June 2020.

Earlier this year, however, Ye gave us a glimpse of a collaboration between Yeezy and NBA player Derrick Rose, who is also part of the Adidas family. The two launched a series of ‘YZY Rose’ wave-shaped clogs intended for the basketball court, noting (after much ridicule) that the shoes were still on. With some extra traction, these foam slippers could be their updated design.

Much more sleek and sneaker-like than the initial Foam Runner or YZY Rose shoes, the new shoes feature a stacked heel and midfoot that appear to provide cushioning. Comprised of a single piece of foam, the slip-on sneaker is chiseled and ventilated for breathability, while underfoot the outsole provides additional arch support and rubber treads.

It should be noted that unlike the existing Foam Runners, which are engraved with both Adidas and Yeezy brands, these foam sneakers only have the Adidas Trefoil logo on their outsole. While the savage design hints at some influence from Yeezy, Adidas could make its own foam sneakers – especially since the brand is probably fed up with Kanye consistently favoring competitor Nike.

Output to be determined – As Adidas and Yeezy ramp up their 2022 offerings, a release announcement for the no-name foam sneakers is expected to arrive soon. But if the minimalist clog is to compete with other sports sneakers – especially the Nike and Jordan Brand models – Adidas may need to change its design to include increased support and traction. A quick addition of the Yeezy brand, of course, would ensure the shoe sells regardless of performance.
