Ethiopian Derara Hurisa finished first in the Vienna Marathon on Sunday, but did not win the race. Instead, he was disqualified for wearing the wrong shoes during the race. After the 24-year-old crossed the finish line, he was informed of the disqualification because he was wearing shoes with soles one centimeter thicker than the maximum four centimeters.

Thus, the runner-up, Leonard Langat of Kenya, was declared the winner. Langat finished in 2 hours, 9 minutes, 25 seconds – three seconds after Harisa. Marathon organizers said when Hurisa initially entered the race, he entered with shoes that met their guidelines. However, he did not wear these shoes for running and instead wore the ones he had used during training, which had too thick soles.

“I cannot say at the moment why he did not run in the shoes specified in the form,” said race coordinator Johannes Langer. according to Associated Press.

Ethiopia’s Betesfa Getahun was second and Kenya’s Edwin Kosgei was named third.

On the women’s side, debutant Vibian Chepkirui from Kenya took the win with a time of 2 hours, 24 minutes and 29 seconds.

Top 4 Weightlifting Shoes For Bodybuilders

By Shoes

Every weightlifter knows that their training outfit, especially their shoes, can increase their performance. In fact, this has been consistently proven by science – a study published by the Journal of Sports Sciences note how proper weightlifting shoes give weightlifters a deeper squat with increased knee flexion for better efficiency. These shoes also allowed the participants to maintain a straight trunk and an unchanged hip angle.

But with so many shoe options from brands and gurus available, which of them is best for your weightlifting needs?

Converse Chuck Taylor

The Chuck Taylor All-Stars are not only trendy but also perfect for weightlifting. BarBend, USA Weightlifting’s official media partner, says so in their Converse Chuck Taylor review.

Its thin and flat soles allow your feet to be closer to the ground. Plus, because they’re rubber, the Chuck Taylor All-Stars have less cushioning, giving you more stability for the lift. Its high uppers also provide the ankle support needed for repetitive activities, and its canvas material makes it incredibly light.

Other than that, this pair is easy to find, inexpensive, and versatile.

Reebok Legacy Lifter

You may have heard of CJ Cummings, the weightlifter who inspired the creation of Reebok Legacy. At just 21, he has already won 23 American records and qualified for numerous international competitions, including the recently completed Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. This impressive resume naturally made him the top pick for design inspiration and consultation for the brand’s first weightlifting shoe.

The Legacy Lifter is one of the best weightlifting shoes, due to its stable lifting platform and anatomical shape that conforms to the contours of the foot for the perfect maximum support. Plus, its locking straps and laces ensure your feet are always planted on the ground, even with a fully loaded barbell. Cummings has been training on the first prototype of the shoes since 2015, attesting to the comfort and power the pair bring to their game.

As well as being one of the most iconic shoes of all time, this tangled purple pair also has some history behind it. The The history of the Air Jordan V “Grape” started in the 90s when the retailer first introduced this highly technical yet stylish pair of sneakers to the fitness market. Michael Jordan was seen in them after a summer of weightlifting – the first proof of how ideal the shoes were for weightlifters.

Today it may be known for its vibrant hue, but weightlifters will remember its removable spikes on the outsole, allowing for better grip. Its geometric lace locks and visible Air-Sole unit also provide added comfort and support.

Men’s Otomix Warrior Shoes

If you are looking for a versatile pair, this is the one for you. The Otomix Men’s Warrior Shoes can be used for weightlifting, strength training, martial arts and MMA. It may seem a bit bulky at first glance, but it is extremely light since it is made of 100% polyester.

The high construction around the ankles provides the perfect fit and support, while its rubber sole stabilizes. It also has a wider toe area, providing more space and preventing injury.

Our article on ‘Hardcore Bodybuilding – An Obsession Or Just A Lifestyle Choice?’ understands that strength training activities, including weight lifting, mean something different to everyone. Many believe that weightlifting is a sport, a way to achieve a goal (like losing weight) or even a way of life. Whichever side you fall into, the fact that you need to prioritize your health and safety by using proper, high-quality training equipment doesn’t change.

Athos, the 3D printed climbing shoes that adapt to the feet of athletes

By Shoes

3D printing has done it again. It has become more and more popular in the sports and footwear world and again the method is being used. Now in the development of these climbing shoes, called Athos. Also called “cat’s feet”, this type of shoe is essential for athletes who climb, because they allow better support in the grips, avoiding slipping. It is undoubtedly an interesting project that combines three very important areas: technology, footwear and sport. But how was additive manufacturing used and how does Athos differ from other conventional climbing shoes?

Although they are a necessary piece of equipment, climbing shoes can often be quite uncomfortable and even injure athletes. Indeed, professional climbers often wear shoes 2 or 3 sizes smaller to have better grip, causing suffering. To solve this problem, a group of Spanish students from the Elisava School of Design developed Athos. The idea was born from the search for an innovative application using additive manufacturing. That is why, after learning about the discomfort of this type of shoe, the students set to work. The project consisted in creating tailor-made climbing shoes adapted to the feet of each climber, in order to obtain better adaptability, performance and comfort during the practice of the sport.

Athos

Athos and the 3D printing of sports shoes

As mentioned, the idea was to implement additive manufacturing in an innovative application, and this technology was the key to the development of Athos shoes. In this project, the main advantage of 3D printing was personalization, as it allows each shoe to be adapted to the shape of each climber’s foot. This is done according to the needs as well as the type of performance of each user. Indeed, the workflow they carried out was as follows: scanning the feet, customizing the prototype, manufacturing the shoe (3D printing, post-processing, assembly), and finally, delivery to the user. It should be noted that the 3D printed part is the body of the shoe, then it remains to attach the elastics and straps separately. But, if you look at it, this is a very simple production process that could be available to anyone.

The material chosen by the young students was obviously TPU. This thermoplastic is characterized by its great flexibility and elasticity, which makes it ideal in this field. It should be mentioned that unlike the standardized shoes normally used in rock climbing, the Athos are tailor-made to achieve the perfect climbing shoe for every athlete. Additionally, 3D printing enables much more responsible and sustainable manufacturing by producing on demand and reducing both processes and materials by 50%.

The project was so well received that it was nominated for several awards, including the Forward AM Innovation Awards, the Elisava Master’s Project Awards and the Distributed Design Awards. Among them, the Forward AM Innovation Awards, the Elisava Master’s Project Awards or the Distributed Design Awards. It remains to be seen with what innovations related to 3D printing this design school will surprise us! In the meantime, you can find more information about the project HERE.

Mercury star Diana Taurasi’s LeBron 18 ‘GOAT Vision’ shoes drops on Friday

By Shoes

Diana Taurasi is already considered the best female basketball player to put on shoes. If you still don’t believe him, you can take some notes for review by checking out the details of his next personal edition of Nikes which will be released on Friday.

The Phoenix Mercury star will release another LeBron 18 exclusive dubbed “GOAT Vision”. It’s GOAT, the acronym for the greatest of all time.

The light green tones themselves are stunning, but the tongue is where the details come into play.

Newspaper cutters mark many of Taurasi’s career accomplishments, and the only inserts include Taurasi’s basketball goat icon.

The shoes are expected to sell for $ 200 this Friday and are Nike’s second recent release of the LeBron 18 Personal Editions for the Mercury Guard.

In July, Taurasi published a “La Cabra” edition of the Kicks, which also recounted his accomplishments on hardwood, but with a nod to his Italian and Argentinian roots. “La cabra” means “the goat” in Spanish.

Fall Sports Sneak Peek: Schulte, Warriors Volleyball Has Huge Shoes To Fill | Local sports

By Shoes

Winfield, Mo. – Under coach Brian Hawkins, the Winfield volleyball team has won 18 games, the District 6 Class 3 Championship and reached the State Tournament.

Hawkins has since moved on and Maggie Schulte has taken over a program with a history of success.

“I have big shoes to fill,” said Schulte, who was a college coach before he was promoted to varsity coach. “It’s definitely a tough act to follow.”

Schulte will also have to replace a pair of top executives on that team in Chloe Kaimann and Taylor Gentemann. While Schulte has said leadership is irreplaceable, she said returning players can fill that void.

“These girls were great, and these are big shoes to fill,” said Schulte. “However, we have returning daughters who have a lot of courage and are ready to show the community what they have to offer as well.”

Schulte also said leadership can be found in the upper classes who were part of this district title-winning team.

“We have older people who can guide us,” she said. “I hope they can pick up where they left off.”

Even though the Warriors will have targets on their backs, Schulte said his unit is up to the challenge – and has the potential to be even better than last year.

“This team did very well last year,” she said. “We still have players who can meet and exceed those expectations.

“I don’t doubt it at all.”

Winfield opens the season at Bowling Green on August 27 before home games against Warrenton and St. Charles.

On September 7, the Warriors travel to take on their county rival, Troy Buchanan.

Coach puts on ‘competition shoes’ for Bay County tennis championship

By Shoes

BAY CITY, MI – Mike Collins has all kinds of great advice.

And Essexville tennis coach Garber was anxious to see if he could heed his own words.

Collins went from coach to competitor, joining the scrum for the sixth annual Bay County Tennis Championship and the Alex Burke Memorial during the weekend’s action at Jopke Courts.

“It’s nice to put on the competition shoes for once,” said Collins. “Instead of feeding bullets all the time, it was good to hit a few.”

The tournament produced more than 100 singles and doubles matches on Saturday and Sunday at the new Bay City tennis complex on Park Avenue. Tournament organizer Joe Ricard said players came from as far away as Seattle and Phoenix to participate in the tournament.

“The number of participants was greater and the quality of the competition was by far the best we have ever had,” said Ricard. “Obviously everyone loves tennis, so there was no problem, no complaints. It was two fun tennis days.

It was a memorable final day of the offseason for Collins, who was back on the pitch early Monday morning for the first day of fall sports training. His players, perhaps, saw him in a new light after knowing he was now a Bay County champion.

Collins teamed up with former Garber player Logan Brown to win the men’s doubles championship, but with a little help from current Garber player Kaleb Whisman.

Collins also competed in the mixed doubles division with Sunni Hartwell and had four games to his name in the men’s doubles final. He gave way to Whisman, who helped win the title.

“I delayed the whole tournament so I retired from the men’s doubles,” said Collins. “I might have a little more than I can chew on. I wasn’t physically exhausted, but I had put my whole heart into it by then, you could say. “

Collins chose a good partner. Brown, two-time MLive Bay City Player of the Year, is heading to Lake Superior State University to join the men’s tennis program this fall.

“It’s nice to play with some of the former players and to have the chance to see how they have grown in the game,” said Collins.

Whisman made it a day of two titles, teaming up with Garber teammate Zach Goetz to win the boys’ doubles crown. They beat Bay City Central twins Tong Da Wu and Tong Xing Wu in the final.

Collins wasn’t the only coach-turned-player enjoying a banner weekend in the Bay County Championship. Bay City Central women’s tennis coach Jane Klawon also won a title by winning the women’s singles division. She also teamed up with Kim Biskup for second place in the women’s doubles, losing to Katy Young of Saginaw and Jennifer Nowosatka in the final.

Charlie Gruber and Cory Golden of Bay City won the mixed doubles title and won the championship against Logan Beyer and Madison Beyer of Bay City while those of Imlay City

Imlay City’s Drew Wetzel and Aubrey Sommer edged Bay City’s Laure Wright and Sara Kavanaugh for the girls’ doubles title on Sunday.

Mike Rabideau of Midland defeated Dan Boyll of Mount Pleasant for the men’s singles title on Saturday. Dalton DeBoer of Midland defeated Addy Zanotti of Bay City for the girls ‘singles crown while Jack Dwan of Bay City won the boys’ singles final against Spencer Tepatti of Chesaning.

The tournament was played in a pool format, giving most players a chance to participate in four matches. It’s a big draw for the tournament, Ricard said, noting that many players have traveled here for the chance to compete.

“It’s really nice to have people from outside the area and show them what Bay City has to offer,” said Ricard. “Not only our beautiful tennis complex, but share Bay City with them.”

How a former Nike designer created the Sperry Sport Performance shoes – footwear news

By Shoes

While many Sperry consumers appreciate its shoes for fashion appeal, the brand’s roots are in performance. Early next year, Sperry will once again draw on its watersports heritage to deliver its most adventure-ready collection yet.

Launched in March 2022, Sperry Sport, a line of performance-oriented footwear designed for ambitious outdoor enthusiasts. The line was led by Sean McDowell, a 22-year-old Nike veteran who joined Sperry as senior vice president of product creation in June 2020.

McDowell told FN how the pandemic, which hit the United States just months before assuming his new role, led to the creation of Sperry Sport.

“I love the lifestyle, but I feel like the collections work well when you have one foot in performance and one foot in the lifestyle,” McDowell said. “COVID was starting to escalate and so many people were participating in outdoor activities. It was a great opportunity for us to reawaken our roots of innovation and performance and harness this trend that is happening, where people are investing more in fun and adventure, hiking, running and boating. pleasure.

After discussing the idea for Sperry Sport with Blake Krueger, president and CEO of Wolverine World Wide Inc., the design veteran quickly got to work. “I sketched out all the shoes in the collection over that first weekend and started to identify who the target consumer was, some of the different activities,” McDowell said. “We wanted to make sure that we had a broad offering with a lot of versatility in each of the silhouettes.”

Creating a range with something for everyone was possible thanks to McDowell’s design history. During his 22 year career at Nike, McDowell said he worked on several Nike Running products as well as iconic shoe styles and franchises including Kukini, Pegasus and Tailwind. However, it was his time as Nike’s creative director for Olympic shoes for the 2008 Beijing Olympics that most prepared him for Sperry Sport.

“I was able to work in all 28 sports including all of the water sports,” McDowell said. “I was very familiar with the activities. I had done a lot of research, a lot of consumer focus groups, so it was easy to rekindle those roots and talk to new consumers today and then create a product for them.

McDowell admitted that launching Sperry Sport was one of the fastest projects he’s ever worked on, although it wasn’t without challenges.

“I’m used to focus groups where you sit around a table or go on the boat and have an afternoon where you go through things, but we had to switch completely to Zoom focus groups, which I did. had never done before, “McDowell said.” People FaceTiming on their boat and walking around through their different activities. It was a very different experience. “

He continued, “But there were also advantages to that. I was able to connect with dozens of people around the world. Normally, the focus groups would be held in one place and we would invite six to 12 people. Now I could have 12-20 people on the phone from Brazil, Spain, Australia, and New Zealand, and they could all jump in and say, ‘This is a problem that I need someone to talk to. one to solve. Can you help me with this? ‘ In the future, we will still be doing in-person discussion groups, but I will absolutely do the digital groups as well, because your reach goes much deeper.

“There are so many activities that take place on a motor boat. Whether it’s wakeboarding or waterskiing, you’re constantly in and out of the boat, ”McDowell said. “You can easily put these shoes on and take them off and they dry very quickly. It has a great cushioning system, and when you are on the boat and it is going up and down, it is more comfortable, so there is less wear and tear on your body during the day. And it has incredible wet traction.

He continued, “We also wanted this particular shoe to look great. If you were to go for a beer afterwards, you will look great walking into a pub. “

Beyond the Spring 22 debut, McDowell has confirmed that the Sperry Sport collections for Fall 22 and Spring 23 are in the works.
