Microsoft reveals original Xbox-themed Adidas sneakers

Microsoft has revealed that it will partner with Adidas to bring the world its very first set of console-inspired sneakers.

In a post on its website, Microsoft announced that the collaboration will include an all-new Xbox-inspired sneaker, called Xbox 20th Forum Tech, in honor of the original console’s 20th anniversary.

Sporting a green and black color scheme with translucent details added to finish, the Adidas sneakers are inspired by the special edition of the original Halo-themed Xbox console in 2001. Microsoft says the aesthetic inspiration for the shoes has been guided by the company’s past.

“The Adidas Forum Tech design balances nostalgia while embracing modern technology and is symbolic of how we look at our own Xbox history – celebrating the past 20 years and looking into the unlimited future of gaming,” said James Monosmith, Senior Director of Sales and Marketing. at Xbox.

While the Xbox 20th Forum Tech sneakers may have been the first to be announced in the Microsoft-Adidas partnership, they certainly won’t be the last. Over the next few months, fans should expect to see more reveals for additional sneakers, each inspired by different generations of Xbox consoles past and present. A report from May suggested that the Adidas collaboration would include four shoe models.

Details on how to get your hands on a limited edition pair of lines are limited. However, Microsoft said fans will be able to purchase at least one set of the lineup later this year. This isn’t the first time in recent months that Microsoft has partnered with a non-tech company. In July, the brand partnered with Krispy Kreme to bring UK fans its Xbox-themed Nexus Level Donut. Meanwhile, in the sneaker news, Nintendo announced its own limited-edition themed shoes earlier this year. In partnership with Puma, the company announced its own shoes inspired by Animal Crossing New Horizons.
