Trae Young gives his fans his used Adidas shoes

32 points and 9 assists in a decisive victory. Nothing new about this for Trae Young. We got used, maybe even spoiled, to these kinds of performances by Young. The Hawks point guard is on track for another All-Star campaign and possibly some prestigious league accolades.

However, last night was also a first for Young. Following Monday’s 122-104 victory over the Pistons at State Farm Arena, a young fan was pleasantly surprised with a gift from the new face of adidas basketball. Watch the video below:

As legend has it, this was the first pair of Young’s iconic shoes – the Adidas Trae Young 1 – that he had ever given a fan after a game. Not only are these shoes worn by games, but they are new to the general public.

For all of us who want to be like Young (and now this fan), the colorway is called “SO SO DEF ATL” and will be available November 5 for $ 140. In a press release from adidas, Young said this about his inspiration for the brightly colored shoe:

“This colourway is a nod and a reference to a famous Atlanta billboard that lets every passerby know who ran the city. On it, the SO SO DEF logo is printed on the heel and in the insole with the exact phrase written on the display panel. Crazy “pop” colors with yellow and red everywhere.

Giving a child a rare pair of shoes is just another example of Young’s generosity and genuine kindness. Young and his family relieved Atlanta families of medical debt, built an amateur sports complex in Oklahoma, and helped with major public health campaigns. Young is the face of the Hawks and is set to become the face of the league soon. Honestly, this couldn’t have happened to a better guy.
