“Oh my God,” she said of the many donations made.

“It feels good to see the community come together and have a good time. That’s all I wanted and to make the kids have a good time, help as many people as possible… share love, light, support each other without a fight, through good works.

White hopes to take the effort globally and to the United States. She posts as Chasity White on Instagram and also owns a clothing line and photography business. Her next event is a Halloween candy giveaway.

Delivery of mail in the country for six years honed his social skills.

“I deal with a lot of customer service, I love meeting people and building relationships, listening to them on my route, especially older people who have no one to talk to,” White said.

She has no children, although many in the community may consider her a friend.

“People have helped me, especially with this event,” White said. “I’m just an ordinary person just trying to help people.”

Another local organization making a difference is back-to-school giveaway co-sponsor, Evolve Center, a youth ministry led by Damion and Nakia Motley.

“Dude, oh man, we’ve stepped up our efforts as a community and we DID it AGAIN,” Evolve Center wrote on Facebook. “A very successful event. Unfortunately I was too busy to take pictures so if anyone took pictures please tag us. Appreciate everything that has come out and supported EVOLVE, SLIMS, all the vendors and especially the kids. We do what we do for them.
